They planned to rape and kill me, dump my body: Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan

Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan made a serious accusation against her husband, stating that her situation was similar to the Kathua rape victim’s and that she had been subjected to the same mistreatment. She made the statement at an event in Kolkata to protest against the Kathua case.

New Delhi: Scorned wife of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami, Hasin Jahan, has been making aggrieving statements one after the other. She has alleged the Indian Test regular of infidelity, domestic violence, attempt to murder and now has drawn a comparison of her situation to a rape victim. The estranged wife of Shami called her matter “similar” with the dastard Kathua rape case. She made these statements in Kolkata while participating in a protest march held on April 23 against the Kathua rape case.

“Those who are guilty of the crime should be punished. Even my case is similar to this. But I am alive. Even I have been subjected to what happened in that case,” Jahan said. “They had planned to rape me, kill me and then dump my body in a forest. It’s been almost two months that I am fighting against all this,” she added while comparing her ordeal.

The legal proceedings are already underway against Shami as he has been quizzed by Kolkata Police, recently, on the alleged charges by his wife. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Praveen Tripathi informed that Shami was grilled for a little more than three hours on April 17. “We can call him anytime but at this point in time, we don’t find it’s necessary. He has been cooperative in this case,” Tripathi added.

Hasin Jahan had also levelled match-fixing charges against the fast bowler stating he was meeting a Pakistani woman in Dubai and taking money from her sent by a UK based businessman, ‘Mohammad Bhai’. Following the accusations, Shami was left out from the list of central contracted players and a probe by BCCI was conducted. BCCI’s Anti-corruption officials found the bowler not guilty of the charges and was reinstated back in the Grade B contract.

Earlier this month, Jahan had moved a petition against Shami in the court of the third judicial magistrate, Alipur, praying for a monthly maintenance of Rs 10 lakh for her and their daughter.
